Alex - The AmpliFire
Around fifty years ago a lot of great emotions were pressed into black plastic on an island in the Caribbean. And they were meant to be shared... this is the reason why Alex can often be seen hauling around a box full of records from this era.
No matter whether it is a small nighter in your neighborhood or in a neighboring country, an event of the 'Pressure Drop' series with his Co-DJ Gnanli at Zurich's Kasheme or the biggest Reggae festival of Switzerland, he will not hesitate to delight the crowd with raw and authentic Rock Steady and driving Early Reggae spiced up with some Ska, Northern Soul, R'n'B and sometimes even old records from Ethiopia, Germany or Italy.
He will be sure to bring some nice tunes to blast across the Offbeat floor. So join him there to experience the eargasmic spirit of Jamaican sounds. Because emotions sometimes run at 45 R.P.M.
_Rupie Edwards - Falling in Love (blank)
_Ken Booth & The Supersonics band - You Left The Water Running (Jontom)
_The Viceroys - Promises Promises (Matador)
_Pat Kelly - The Tracks of My Tears (blank)
_The Clarendonians - Rules Of Life (Island)
One of the founding members of the Rude Attack Sound System crew. Obsessed with Jamaican music for over two decades. A good tune is a good tune. And there are many of them around in the golden era of the 60's & 70's to share with you folks: JA R&B, Ska, Rock Steady, Boss Reggae, Roots & Dub. So, surprise surprise, versatility is the key!
Flo Matt a.k.a. Buddy Flo has not only the flexibility, which he proudly shows off at the Soul Yoga Sessions but also a nose for the exquisite black gold. He particularly likes the Rrrolitas that really hit deep into the heart and play on one's heart strings. But in his collection you’ll also find some Modern Soul mover that make you throw your hands and clothes in the air.
His current Top 5 spins are:
_Natural Impulse - She Went Away (Natural Impulse)
_The Checkmates LTD - Got To See "U" Soon (Rustic)
_Southern Trumpets - Good News (Better World)
_Dwain Vinyard - Sit Down And Rest Your Soul (Vinyard)
_Gil Scott-Heron - Gun (Arista)
The DJ collective Capital Soul Sinners was founded 13 years ago. Five DJs joined together in a period of a tired or non-existent Rhythm'n'Blues and Soul scene in the Swiss capital Berne.
DJ el Tigre has been spinning records for over 35 years and was earlier bass player for the "The Monsters" and "The Super Supers". Later the Capital Soul Sinners released the single "Mama Soul / The Super Supers (CSS-001)” on the occasion of their fifth anniversary.
N'dee Fresh has been in the business for several decades and has an impressive record collection of Rap history too in addition to his Soul collection. DJ el Mensajero joined the collective later after living in Bangkok for several years and returning to Switzerland. He is also addicted to French sixties records. The youngest sinners Silvio Serioso and Madame Violence met for the first time in a bar where she worked and he was on his way to his very first gig as a DJ back in 2005. They got to know each other and their common passion for soul music was strong: later they got married and now they mostly spin records together.
DJ N'dee Fresh, Madame Violence & Silvio Serioso will represent the Capital Soul Sinners at the 8th NOT TOO YOUNG Swiss Soul Weekender.
Hello everybody, my name is Fabian and I am from Basel.
I got into Soul music via the Ska & Scooter scene when my older brother took me to a concert of «Bad Manners». As a 14 years old, this experience was spellbinding! I soon started collecting Ska and Reggae records until I got into Northern Soul a few years later.
I am mainly into classic 6Ts Northern but I also love Early Reggae and Beat. Crossover and Modern? Maybe slowly getting there… I turned to be a little bit more experimental these days. Being more of a collector, I only DJ-ed a few times at the fantastic Swiss Soul Weekender in Lucerne.
Some records I do not get tired of listening to:
The Cautions - No Other Way
Debonaires - Headache In My Heart
Stromie Wynters - Life Saver
Shirley Wahls - Why Am I Crying
Joey Gee - It’s More Than I Deserve
Thanks again for inviting me again this year! Looking forward to another great weekender in Lucerne.
Flo Dalton... and there's nothing else left to say.
This man actually moved to Switzerland because of its cheese and for some specific birds he likes to watch. After living here for a few days even the bus drivers started welcoming him by name and high-fiving his bald head. Besides that he spins some heavily scratched records with Rocksteady, Reggae and Mariachi on them. He loves to dance to House and knows every Techno track by heart (which he tries to sing along).
As a proper member of the NTY cranking crew he's also in charge of the Off Beat Floor which you'll be able to enjoy on Saturday night.
"Funky Fever" is a party label which takes place every first Saturday of the month in Lucerne. The series was launched nearly 20 years ago in the Bar 57 with Dj Black Virus and experienced - thanks to DJ Murphy - its revival in the Bar 59.
Now Funky Fever has been inviting for over 9 years almost all Funk and Soul DJs from Switzerland as a guest. Even some international DJs rocked the turntables, such as Tobias Kyrmaier (DE), Mr. Thing (UK), Boca 45 (UK), Skeme Richards (US), Amir Abdullah (US), Amerigo Gazeway (US) or Mirko Machine (DE).
Another highlights were the performances by the bands «Breakestra» (US), den «Mighty Mocambos» (DE) and the «James Brown Tribute Show».
Behind the label are the vinyl freaks DJ Murphy, Dan and Wab who you can meet for a chat with beer also every Wednesday in the Haifish Bar in Lucerne (or at the Co-Mix Remix record store of course). The Funky Fever lives the motto "Save The Vinyl" and remains an event for Funk and Soul freaks, for breakdancers, for old school rap lovers and for those who like to move to Black Music. Boom!
Deep, deep thanks from our music-lover-hearts for the long lasting support that we get from those young and good-looking men....
I am a swiss guy, born in Houston (Texas), now living in Copenhagen since '97. I do like records, especially old and sometimes rare records. I like a lot of different music from the past and my biggest challenge is to make everything fit into my sets without upsetting people and making them leave the dancefloor. I am very happy to be part of the Not Too Young Swiss Soul Weekender and I will do my best to make people dance to mostly cool records.
Accidentals - These Days
Cliffhangers - Since You've Gone Away
Carolynn Porter - Away With You
Ike Porter - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet
Ray And The Blue Satins - She Doesn't Love Me

I've been performing since 2013, initially as a sidekick with around 20-30 records, also doing my best for half an hour on the first Offbeat floor. Since October of last year I have my own Nighter (Fire Corner Allnighter at the Werkk in Baden), which takes place bi-monthly. My repertoire includes Ska, Rocksteady and Early Reggae.
Finding the top 5 was difficult as with all probably but I could scrape together my absolute favorites, which would be:

Hugh Malcolm - Good time Rock
Prince Buster - 30 Pieces of Silver
The Gladiators - Re Arrange
Lee 'Buey' Buers
Lee 'Buey' Buers
In the early 1980’s a schoolfriend and I started going to local mod do's in Bucks (just outside London) and we’re instantly seduced by the "the Bottle", "Wade in the Water" and "Just like Romeo & Juliet".
Rapidly we grew into men, going to soul nights, Dayers and nighters.
The 100 Club in 1986 was electric, moody and musically utterly insane - but it was the big Midlands nighters that made a lasting impression. Keb, Guy and Adam were massively influential along with Ian Clarke and Ady... (This was before Butch started spinning).
Records were so cheap you’d be a fool not to collect - (Minnie jones £12 anyone) and towards the end of the 80s Bradford was amazing - incredible modern room.
Like many others I moved into house and acid jazz for a bit but coming back to northern in the late 90s when it was in the middle of a renaissance.
A few more years off with children, attending festivals and doing femi Kutis dance workshop and I was delighted to return to the soul scene in 2008 to find it flourishing and global!
Blessed to have met a fantastic bunch of new soul fans and family, and nowadays enjoy traveling a bit further than M1 junction 15 and playing to new faces with some of the nicest people in the game (that’s Emel & Henning) must say I’m really liking forwards to coming to Lucerne again for NTY!!
My current top ten spins...

Hi, I’m Martin Erdmann. Instead of an old fashioned self-description I created this mad lib. Fill out the blanks and figure out who I am for yourself:
Martin Erdmann was born and raised in Lucerne Switzerland which is a very _____ place to live. He started to play his records in public in 2005 to impress _____. Unfortunately that didn’t work out. Probably because he played barbaric tunes like _____ and, Lord have mercy, _____. At least he got _____ for free. That’s why he’s still around, playing music out of different genres like _____, _____ and of course _____. If you didn’t already have the _____ to meet Martin in person, you’ll recognize him by his totally rad catchphrases like _____ or _____. He’s very ____ to play for you some proper music at the NTY19. Feel free to bring him back to life with a refreshing drink. He prefers _____, ______ and not to forget _____.
Here are some tunes I’m going to play:
_The Specials - I Can’t Find Another
_The Wilson Brothers - You Took My Future Away
_Frankie Crocker - Ton Of Dynamite
_The Jackson Singers - Good News
_The El Corols - Chick, Chick
Ms Phyllis (45°Degrees/ Hamburg)
About 14 years ago I began collecting vinyl and DJing. I started with 60s Beat, Soul and Reggae tunes, but then focussed on Soul 45s.
My favourites are Soul, Latin Soul and Funk from the late sixties till the mid seventies, but i also love to play Northern Soul and R’n’B, depending on my mood and on the audience I'm playing for.
I founded several Clubs and Allnighters in Leipzig and Hamburg and also had some guest spots, mainly in Germany and Spain.
For me a record does not have to be super-rare or belonging to a special style of soul music… as long as it touches me it’ll have a place in my box.
Since 7 years I'm part of the DJ-Collective „45°Degrees“ - a group of four female Djs here in Hamburg with a regular Nighter at the Molotow Club, located at the Reeperbahn, St. Pauli.
Philharmonics - I need, I need your love (Soulin)
Eboney Essence - Let me in (Goodie Train)
Ray Barretto - Right on (Fania)
The Lollipops - Love is the only answer (RCA)
Little Beaver - Listen to my Heartbeat (Cat)
Whether you call it Northern, Modern, Crossover, Popcorn or just Soul, whether you describe it as deep, sweet, mellow, high-octane or funky, whether it was recorded in the sixties, seventies, eighties or today, whether it came from the US, Brazil, some remote island or outer space, whether you found it in the dustiest corner or on top of the charts – if it has that certain thing I’m all for it!
What that thing is … well, you can’t always put your finger on it, can you?
Five for the road:
The Internationals – Beautiful Philosophy
Len Jewell – The Elevator Song
James Reese And The Progressions – Fool For Love, No More
Fourth Creation – I Think I Would Cry
The C.O.D.'s – Gimme Your Love
I’ve been involved with the Soul Scene since the very early 2000’s cutting my dancing teeth at the legendary 100 Club All-Nighters. Having got the bug I started collecting Soul 45’s. This inevitably led to me wanting to play records at people. In 2009 along with some like minded South Londoners we started the Crystal Palace Soul Club - a lot of records were played and plenty of fun was had but eventually it fizzled out. These days I play regularly at Soulshaker! in Peckham.
Really excited to be asked to spin a few at the NTY Swiss Soul Weekender! See you on the floor!
Ollie's current Top 5 spins:
_Sylvia Striplyn - Give Me Your Love
_James Walsh Gypsy Band - Cuz It’s You Girl
_Limmie - Saturday Nights The Night
_Lee Williams - Girl From A Country Town
_Charles Brimmer - This Feeling Is In My Heart
Pazi the Fist is resident DJ of the first hour of SMART Lion Zurich. Although the term «Fist» can associate intolerance, Andy is diverse in its musical interest: Northern Soul to Reggae to Ska, all these styles have a space in his collection and in his DJ sets. Again he will let us skank on the Offbeat Floor on Friday night.
Lucerne’s Rare-Soul-crafters number one and flagship of the NTY DJ crew. The Spin Club duo stands for vinyl music of the 60’s/ 70’s/ 80’s dished up by the self-styled but definitely treasured nerds Henning Boogali (f.k.a. Boogaloo) and Emel Ilter. «Strictly-original»-proved.
They are into soul music you might come up against scarcely, mostly preferring obscure tracks. Still they appreciate the classical 60’s (Northern) Soul sound and create a respectable mixture of oddish but catchy styles. They are two personalities who have bats in the belfry without any doubt – which they proudly present behind the DJ decks while DJing back-to-back, doing some proper Four Tops moves.
I'm Victor, I'm 32 and I've been based in Paris for the past 10 years.
I started collecting records when I was a teenager and focused on soul music during those years. I started to play records in local bars when I moved to the big city, and in 2014 I got involved in a soul and funk all-nighter in the east side of Paris; the Soul Parade Club. As well as those parties, I also host a radio show on LeMellotron.com dedicated to the sweeter side of soul music, defining what I call the Rampal Sound.
I'm honoured and humbled to be invited to play in Lucerne among top dee-jays. It's my first international guest spot and I'm really looking forward to it!
My actual Top 5 :
— Tomorrow's Children - Crystal Blue Persuasion
— Bobbi Row & The Englishmen - Why'd you put me on
— The Fall Guys - Doin' My Own Thing
— Richie Merrett - You'll Always Have Yesterday Standing By
— Little Jimmy Shaw & The Starlets - Love Dream
